So, apparently i'm only going to blog once a month. whatevs. its not like i'm so busy i don't have time to blog. man, do i have time to blog. i just don't. one of the many mysteries of the galaxy.
so, its july. which means i got back from spain last week, which was one of the best trips i've ever taken. scratch that, it was the best. i actually ended up being really glad that i went into it knowing absolutely no one that was going to be in the program. it was sort of like an exercise for real life. and i made some friends that i really liked, and tried some tings i've never done before, and i loved the independence of the whole trip. i do wish i had savored the experience a little more though. it went by so, so fast, and i don't know when, if i'll ever get do to something like that again. people in different places are so interesting. they laugh at the same episodes of the simpsons, they understand the exact same things we do, but they express it using completely different words. okay, i'm not conveying it very well, but the message is, languages are so cool. how everyone around the world communicates the same things but so differently, but still so the same. i wanted to start learning greek this summer. i want to try a language that didn't have the same basic alphabet that we do, like spanish or french.
and i haven't even started on my group. these kids were from all over the united states, and i could still place each of them exactly into a persona that we have at west. There was the cool soccer kid, the quiet guy thats actually a crazy partier, the quiet guy thats not a crazy partier but is actually crazy smart but cool nonetheless, the girls that know exactly what to order at the bar, the girls that never even dreamed of being near a bar, the awkward quiet girls afraid to talk to anyone other than each other, the really sweet pretty popular type of girl, the really bitchy pretty popular type of girl. i could list the specific names of people at west and their equivalent on my trip, but that strikes me as a really terrible and nostalgic (in a bad way, not like horse tonk) idea. anyway, i swear, every school in the country has got to be plano west, just not always with as nice a building or a parking lot with a net value worth than some countries.
right. back to my actual factual life in the good ole US of A. along with what i can only assume was half the middle school population of plano, i saw the harry potter movie last night. slash early this morning. and it was not great. i felt like i had seen the entire movie before, nothing caught my attention. except that fiery scene with the inferi. and ron being super awk. but really i could have sworn i'd already seen the entire first half. and then after a nice little hour and a half nap, practice. awesomeee.
cross country really has been particularly awful lately though, not just when i don't sleep. i miss so much feeling accomplished at the end of the morning. i miss the feeling you get in your chest when you know you're hauling ass on a run, the combination of pride and competitiveness and complete exhaustion. i miss when coach grubbs's motto wasn't "you'll bounce back". i miss being proud of my speed, not ashamed of it.
blechhhh whatever. happier things. i'm excited alexa is home. another chance for kelly and i to become the favorites! i'm excited for kelly to come home from dc. even though she just left. i'm excited for road trip to UT with c miller. i'm excited that i painted my toes bright green today (it looks way less weird than it sounds, promise). i'm excited that i'm learning a new song on the guitar. i'm excited to send lindsey an embarassing package at camp. i'm excited that i finally wrote something on this blog even though its really long because i never write anything. i'm excited that its only 915 and i'm going to bed right now.
